The Graveyard Book

Our class 7N worked with 7R to create the graveyard which the ghosts from The Graveyard Book inhabit. We each adopted our own ghostly character and decided where in the area their tombstone should lie. Once we had decided we drew maps of the area to remember our plan.

Our Graveyard

 Mapping out our plan

Who is the man Jack? And what is he doing in the house? Has the baby escaped to safety? 7N did some FLASH BACK drama scenes to show what they thought could have happened.

What do you think we should do with Bod? Should he be allowed to stay in our graveyard? Click on the link below to leave me a post it note with your suggestions ...

7N held meetings with 7R and used THOUGHT TRACKING drama to offer their opinions.

"Yes, we should look after him as our own!"

"No, he is ALIVE and not one of us. He's not our responsibility!"

EXHIBITION ASSESSMENT

In The Graveyard Book Mistress Owens says that Bod looks like ‘nobody but himself’ – he is unique. What makes us ‘nobody but ourselves’?

7N were asked to produce an exhibition all about their class. This was set up as a museum and everyone had their own section. They were allowed 5 ‘pieces’ each:
. One was a written piece – diary extract/letter/poem
. One was a photograph or an image – of
something/somewhere important to you with an explanation of why.
. One was an ‘artefact’ that is a physical object
. The other two items allow you to be as creative as you want to be.

We invited visitors (parents and teachers) to come and see our work. Have a look at the photographs of what we did below.

The family of 7N really enjoyed coming into class and looking at what we had done

IS LIZA HEMPSTOCK A WITCH?

In the story Bod meets a girl who was accused of witch craft. 7N have been looking into how people acused of being withes were treated in the Medieval times and the types of gruesome punishments they faced. We have been working in groups to re-enact her trial in court. Will Liza Hempstock be found Guilty or Not Guilty? 7N will decide ...

  1. 7N have been considering whether ghosts could actually exist. They have given good arguments both for and against. We have been using our STORY TELLING skills to share our ghost stories. Please post me your favourites and any of your personal experiences on here 7N ...

  4. This is Connor, i think ghosts are real because there are the ones who come up from hell and then orbs are spirts that are nice, shy and deprived. They are ghosts that only reveal themselves to the camera.
